A Wonderful Afternoon of Cricket and Community

Sunday 21st June saw St John's Green come alive with the second playing of the Mashal-Roys Trophy, our annual charity fixture in partnership with Walking With. A Percy Main President's XI took on a Walking With World XI in a game that was about far more than just cricket - it was about bringing people together, celebrating Refugee Week, and showing what community sport is all about.

The sun shone, the BBQ sizzled, and a fantastic crowd of players, families, friends and supporters lined the boundary throughout the afternoon. The atmosphere was everything you could hope for: warm, welcoming and full of good cheer.

The Cricket

On the field, the Walking With World XI put in a strong performance to claim the win, but the real story of the day was the spirit in which the game was played. Both sides mixed competitive cricket with smiles, laughter and plenty of encouragement; exactly the kind of cricket this club is proud to host.

The President's XI gave a good account of themselves and contributed to a thoroughly entertaining contest, but on the day the World XI were worthy winners. Congratulations to everyone who pulled on a shirt and made the game such a spectacle.

Thank You to Our Sponsors

Events like this do not happen without the generosity of our sponsors, and we are hugely grateful to everyone who supported the day.

VX3, our kit sponsor, provided the playing shirts and continue to be fantastic supporters of the club. You can browse and order club kit at kit.percymain.org.

GMZ Motors stepped up as our food sponsor and helped make sure the BBQ kept everyone well fed all afternoon. Visit them at gmzmotors.com.

Supporting Walking With

The Mashal-Roys Trophy is about more than cricket. Walking With do vital work supporting people seeking sanctuary in our area, and we were proud to stand alongside them again this year. Throughout the day, generous donations of non-perishable food poured in for the Walking With foodbank - thank you to everyone who brought something along.

A special thanks also goes to Northumberland Cricket for donating clothes in support of the cause. Every contribution makes a real difference.

Looking Ahead

The Mashal-Roys Trophy has quickly become a regular in the Percy Main calendar - a day when cricket does what it does best: bringing people together across backgrounds, building friendships, and strengthening the bonds that make our community what it is.

Thank you to everyone who played, volunteered, cooked, donated, cheered, or simply came along to be part of it. We are already looking forward to next year.
