A Facility for the Next 100 Years

At the core of our mission is participation and volunteering. We want a facility that is in use every day of the year in one way or another. A site that sits at the heart of the community for another 100 years.

In late 2024, we formally launched our 10-year masterplan which seeks to transform the site and create a sustainable model for delivering a wide range of sports, activities and community services, with the potential to offer participation 365 days a year. Percy Main Community Sports Club continues in its mission to become the best multi-sports facility available to the community, supporting the areas of Percy Main, North Shields, Wallsend, Howdon and beyond.

What We're Planning

Our vision encompasses a wide range of sports and activities for all ages:

  • Senior football
  • Junior football
  • Senior, junior and girls cricket
  • Boxing and kickboxing
  • Other field sports
  • Homing society
  • Junior darts academy
  • Fitness classes, yoga, pilates
  • Recreation spaces and trim trail
  • Sensory areas and use by other charities
  • Lawn games including boules, horseshoes and cornhole
  • Private hire for parties and celebrations

The Masterplan

Proposed New Clubhouse and Gym
Proposed New Clubhouse and Gym

Working with our retained designers, Russell Edwards and his team at Edwards Architecture based in North Shields, we have developed a comprehensive site masterplan. Key infrastructure elements include:

  • 3G all-weather pitch with outdoor lighting
  • New dugouts and spectator stand for football
  • New multisport building with ground floor changing rooms and gym, first floor function and activity areas
  • Enlarged parking provisions and a new garage/workshop
  • Playground and activity spaces
  • Enhanced cricket ground and facilities

We don't expect to deliver this vision in one go. It will be broken down into 7 or 8 mini projects, each pushed along with different levels of priority. In each case we will be targeting funding from a range of organisations. Last year we secured money to install new fencing around the site. With this masterplan we now have to plan the pipeline and write the strategy for delivery.

What the Community Says

When we presented the masterplan at our public consultation, the response from the community was brilliant. Here's what local people had to say:

"Be great to see this come to fruition. Living across the road from there my entire childhood and spending many hours watching football, cricket and spending time in the club, it would be a fitting redemption story to have something to be proud of again." Dave Dent
"About time something was done around here. Good news all round." Peter Newby
"This looks class. Good luck." Phil Bell

Political Support

Alan Campbell, MP for Tynemouth, visited the site to discuss plans for the future of the club:

"I had a really interesting visit to Percy Main Cricket & Sports Club today to discuss their exciting plans for the future of the club. The club has a proud history and it was great to meet a group of people who are so committed to putting it back on the map in terms of sports but most importantly back at the heart of the local community." Our Stakeholders

The site is already home to a number of stakeholders who form the foundation of our community:

  • Percy Main Cricket Club
  • Percy Main Amateurs FC
  • BKFC Gym
  • Percy Main Homing Society

But we hope to attract many more, and top of our list of priorities is junior football.

Get Involved

This facility is not exclusive to football and cricket. There is scope for so much more and with good accessibility we can help other local charities by providing a safe and secure space for their activities.

As a charity, trustees are the volunteers who help form and forge the future. Anyone can be a trustee and we need new voices and skills as part of the board. Please get in contact if you have time, passion and the desire to help us make this a success.

Whether you want to get involved, want to know more, or just have some good ideas, we'd love to hear from you.
